The first week at the MTC is done!!! This has pretty much
been one of the hardest weeks of my life (harder than finals week at BYU) but
i've also learned so much!!! I'm able to carry on basic conversations in
Spanish now (slowly), and my grammar is slowly improving. The gift of
tongues is so real! Looking back on it, i can't believe that it's only been a
week! I've been playing volleyball in the morning during gym time, so that's
been pretty sweet!!! I'm going to be so good at it by the end of these 6 weeks
hahaha! anyhoo, I've been having many many classes instructing me on the
Spanish AND the gospel! It's exhausting, but rewarding. The MTC has
provided us with some "investigators" to work with and teach gospel
lessons to. One of these was Jorge. So far, Elder Steele and I have
taught him four times and our last time will be today. It's all been in
Spanish, so that's been fun/crazy. It's so cool, because i'm able to understand
most of what he's saying (given, he's speaking at a medium pace) and
communicate my message to him. I've seen so many people from my ward at BYU
here, and it's fantastic!!!
It took me a few days to realize it, but the
spirit is so strong here! On Sunday, we were at a devotional, and i got an
overwhelming feeling of confirmation that this is where I'm supposed to
be! I'm sad that I missed fathers day, but i'm glad that i've been able
to follow in my fathers footsteps and consecrate 2 years of my life to the
Lord. Well, (i appologize for misspellings, i'm rushed right now, but...
Elder Holtry
